Garden Salad with Chicken & Veggies October 31, 2011

Filed under: Lunch — Maria @ 6:59 pm

Today for lunch I had a salad with spring mix, baby spinach, chicken, bacon bits, cucumbers, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, and sunflower seeds with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. It was delicious! I had this salad at the hospital at home. My grandmother woke up in the middle of the night Friday night with horrible chest pains and finally told my mother it had happened a few times. So because she has had a bunch of cardiac surgeries and has major heart disease they took her right to the ER. I was sooo worried I drove home Saturday morning and stayed until late this afternoon. Luckily, after a million tests and procedures they don’t think it’s her heart, but now they need to find out what is causing this pain. Regardless, I am really glad I was able to be there with my family. I spent from sun up to sun down with my grandma at the hospital and I loved being with her every second. She is my most favorite person in the whole world. Please pray for her if you are called to do so! Andddd happy halloween all :)

Strawberry Greek Yogurt, Fiber One Cereal October 28, 2011

Filed under: Breakfast — Maria @ 7:01 am

This morning for breakfast I am having strawberry Greek yogurt and Fiber One cereal. It is such a cold and dreary morning I totally didn’t feel like moving. At least my alarm actually went off this morning whewww! So today I have my H&P test at 8am, then a comprehensive practical review at 9am, and right after that is open lab until 1pm so we can review for our practical and last SP. Hopefully I won’t stay until 1pm then. I want to be able to come home and shower/eat lunch before I head to babysitting at 3pm. I am watching a new little 6 month old boy who is sooo adorable and happy go lucky. I am excited to get to know him and his family. At least we didn’t get snow in Philly last night like they did at home and a lot of other places. I’ll wait until around Christmas for snow thanks :)

Pot Roast, Brussel Sprouts, Baked Butternut Squash October 27, 2011

Filed under: Dinner — Maria @ 6:28 pm

Dinner tonight is the same as last night’s — beef pot roast, brussel sprouts, and baked butter nut squash. I am having a hard time getting these brussel sprouts down. They aren’t horrible but I am really not a frozen veggie fan at all. I keep trying all different kinds but nothing has won me over that I would buy again, except maybe the broccoli with cheddar sauce. I just grew up on fresh veggies and I don’t think they even compare to frozen or canned. I guess that means I just have to go shopping weekly like I was trying to avoid. My went pretty well today after waking up so late. I did really well on my practical so I was pumped about that. Now I am studying my behind off for my H&P test tomorrow. I really need to do well on this ahhh! I am hoping to take a break and watch Grey’s and Private Practice tonight but we’ll see how it goes. I will study during commercials too I promise!! Tomorrow is Friday finallllllly :P

Hot Dogs on Wheat Bread, Celery Sticks

Filed under: Lunch — Maria @ 12:08 pm

Today for lunch I am having two hot dogs on whole wheat bread with celery sticks. When I left school today I smelled hot dogs so I just need to have some. I don’t have any rolls but I don’t really mind them on bread so this will do just fine. So yummy! Well this morning my alarm didn’t go off or I didn’t hear it or something and I was almost late for school. Luckily, I usually call me mom on the way to school in the morning and this morning she called me at 7:40am when she didn’t hear from me. Thank God she called because I had to be there for 8am. I think my practical went really well today too so I am glad about that. Although, I guess I better wait until I get my grade ha. Now I need to hardcore study for my H&P test tomorrow since that is also 10% of my final grade ahhh! Long night ahead!

Pot Roast, Baked Butternut Squash, Brussel Sprouts October 26, 2011

Filed under: Dinner — Maria @ 7:11 pm

Tonight for dinner I am having beef pot roast (frozen leftovers), baked butternut squash, and brussel sprouts. This is my first time trying plain brussel sprouts that were frozen. I have to say they are just ok. I keep trying lots of frozen veggies so I don’t have to go grocery shopping so often but honestly nothing is as good as the fresh stuff. The FRESH butternut squash was delicious though :) I really enjoyed the pot roast as well. So today my SP went better than expected. I didn’t forget any entire system which is more than I can say about most of my class. I am just glad it’s over with. Now I am in slight freak out mode about my musculoskeletal practical tomorrow. I went over it today about 3x with my partner but I’m not there yet. Thankfully I have the most amazing boyfriend ever who always lets me pick and prod him for my benefit. He shall be over shortly to come to the rescue once again! Love him :)

Blueberry Bagel Thin with Cream Cheese, Pear, Cuke Slices

Filed under: Lunch — Maria @ 6:56 am

For lunch today I packed a blueberry bagel (actually breakfast) thin with cream cheese, a pear, and a sliced up cucumber. I had some cream cheese leftover from a bagel place this weekend and I wanted to finish it up. I’m not sure how full this will keep me but I will hopefully get home in the late afternoon so I can have an early dinner or snack. Things are just too busy in the morning to think. Someday I promise I will start packing my lunch the night before like my roommates do. Not sure why I haven’t hopped on that train yet. Today my partner and I are timing ourselves for my musculoskeletal practical and I really don’t feel like I have it down yet as much as I studied it last night. I am hoping it all comes back to me when I go to do it on someone else being I have only been practicing in my head. Off to school!

Honey & Cinnamon Oatmeal with Banana Slices

Filed under: Breakfast — Maria @ 6:55 am

This morning for breakfast I made Kashi honey and cinnamon instant oatmeal with a sliced up banana. It is a cool morning and I haven’t had oatmeal in a while so I thought it was appropriate. I always hate Wednesdays because I have to dress professionally for my SP and still be at class by 8am. I am really nervous about my SP today because we are adding all of the neuro tests and I literally read through it all once. I am more concerned about my practical tomorrow so I focused on studying that last night. During pharm this morning I am planning to review the neuro tests and hope that some of them stick. I also really need to study for my H&P test on Friday since it’s important I do well on that. I reviewed all the lectures except the last one so I plan on printing that one out today. Ok, time to pack something for lunch..

Turkey Sandwich, Pear, Green Bell Pepper October 24, 2011

Filed under: Lunch — Maria @ 8:23 am

For lunch today I packed an oven roasted turkey sandwich on toasted whole wheat bread with a pear and sliced green pepper. I definitely need to get back to eating like this because it is when I feel the healthiest. I think I need to study at school or Starbucks more often so I am not always home and taking a break to go check out what it is in the kitchen. I am also going to try to figure out some way to include exercise in my routine. I feel like it’s not even possible with all the work I have to do but I know it is important so I might try to plan 1-2 days a week to start or something. I think it is appropriate to really focus on eating better today especially because it is the first annual Food Day. Sounds weird I know but check it out here and join the movement.

Peach Greek Yogurt, Fiber One Cereal

Filed under: Breakfast — Maria @ 8:15 am

This morning for breakfast I am having peach Greek yogurt with Fiber One cereal. I need to get back to healthy eating and eating only when I am hungry. This past weekend (probably even week+) I have been eating more than necessary and snacking a lot. I blame it on the stress of school but I know I can control it. I really need to get back to a healthy lifestyle. I am bringing two plates of cupcakes to school from my little get together this weekend and leaving them in our lounge. I would never eat them all, but if they are staring at me everyday I might just try haha. I have my pharm quiz today at noon so I am meeting my friend at school shortly to review for it. Then I have class until 3pm and am going to go to workstudy for a few hours since I am majorly slacking there as well. Here comes the week from down below, hold on tight!

Capellini with Shrimp & Broccoli October 23, 2011

Filed under: Dinner — Maria @ 7:25 pm

Tonight for dinner I made capellini with shrimp, broccoli, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper. It love that it is so fresh and flavorful. My mom makes this often at home so it reminds me of her. I topped it with a little pecorino romano as well which just makes it complete. It is a nice meal after my crazy long day of studying and doing work. I have literally the most insane week ever coming up and I am really praying that I can handle it. I am going to take one day at a time while attempting to stay ahead as much as possible. Tomorrow it is pharm quiz and then lecture in the afternoon. I may be meeting with my musculoskeletal practical partner afterwards but I am waiting to hear from her. I had a blast this weekend, I am just hoping taking the time off from studying won’t bite me in the butt too hard ;)
